How to Find the Cheapest Discount Airfare to All Destinations

Airfare - cheap airline tickets, airfares, airplane flights, plane trips, discount fares. How to find the cheapest fare to the destination of your choice. While there are numerous online travel sites that claim to offer cheap airline tickets to almost any destination, one site in particular offers some money saving tricks that can save you a bundle on airplane tickets. One of the most popular sites for discount airline tickets is Travelocity and our experience has been that although other sites may claim to offer "the greatest number of low fares", you are virtually guaranteed to find THE LOWEST AIRFARE on Travelocity. You'll have to follow a few simple tips, but if you do, you'll maximize your savings. Here's how......

Tip #1 - Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates:

This one tip alone will save you $100's on airfare! Here's how.....

The first step to finding cheap airline tickets is to visit the Travelocity Home Page. Once there, select Flights. Enter the originating and destination cities and the number of passengers. Don't bother entering the dates yet and DON'T HIT THE "SEARCH NOW" BUTTON. Instead, click on ">More Search Options". On the page that follows, when asked "When do you prefer to travel?"......

Select "My Dates are Flexible" and specify the period during which you intend to fly. Then click the "Search Now" button.

Using this approach, Travelocity generates a list of the cheapest airplane tickets to your destination during the period you have specified. The fares are sorted by price. When you select your preferred fare you will be provided a calendar showing all of the dates for which discount plane tickets at the fare you've selected are avaialble. Keep in mind that most often the lowest fares involve connecting flights and/or might require that you fly only on certain days of the week.

An even easier way to find cheap plane tickets is to use the Travelocity Best Fare Finder (located below) and select the "any date" option.

Tip #2 - Be Flexible with the Airport you Select:

Regardless of which method you select, the "Travelocity Option Finder" will automatically advise if you if a lower plane fare is available for a flight departing from or arriving at an alternate nearby airport. The lower fare will be displayed as well as the distance between the alternate airport and your original choice.

Tip #3 - Make your Reservation Early:

Many discounted airfares require that you make a reservation 7, 14 or 21 days before your trip. Making a reservation as soon as you know your desired dates increases your chances of finding the cheapest fare..

Tip #4 - Fly on a Weekday:

Flights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday usually offer the lowest fares. Saturday flights occasionally have discounted fares, but as a rule it's more expensive to fly on a weekend than a weekday.

Tip #5 - Stay over a Saturday Night:

If your situation allows for a Saturday stay over, you are more likely to find an affordable fare. Keep in mind, however, that to qualify for such fares you may be required to stay a minimum of 3 or 4 days.
